About Participation
Due to script and space limitations, not all students who fill out this form, express interest, and/or go through the interview/audition process for this production will be able to participate. However, we are committed to including as many students as possible.
All participating cast members will be required to pay a $50 fee for a cast shirt and costuming. All crew will be required to pay a $25 fee for a cast shirt and other training materials. All fees will be collected online.
Schedule Conflicts
Availability is important. If a students plan to participate in athletics/other activities or have a job, they must indicate this on the conflict form. This does not mean we will work around their job or extracurricular schedule – it simply tells us who has a job and who does not. Individuals must plan their work schedule around rehearsals.
Academic Eligibility
It is expected that all students who participate in the productions are CHSAA eligible which means that production members may only have one F during the course of the production. If at any point a student drops below eligibility standards, they will not be allowed to attend rehearsals until grades improve which may lead to a need to replace them in the production.
Performer Appearance
Performers may be asked to alter their appearance for a role. However, unless the director gives permission, performers are not allowed to alter their appearance until after the final performance. This includes but is not limited to basic haircuts, hair dye, tattoos, piercing, etc.
Rehearsal Attendance
Be on time for rehearsals. If a student insists on being late, we’ll ask them to withdraw from the show. If they have 2 unexcused absences/arrive severely late/have to leave early from rehearsal – they may be dismissed and/or replaced. All illnesses need to be communicated with Mrs. Wicke via email or by phone call prior to the rehearsal. Meetings, rescheduled athletic practices (beyond normal daily scheduled), concerts, extended family vacations, birthdays, and other such events will NOT be valid excuses for missing rehearsals.
Rehearsal Behavior
Misconduct at rehearsals will not be tolerated. This includes, but not limited to, disrespect for director or other production members, destruction of props, horseplay, and removal of any items from the theatre without permission from the teacher/director. Any misconduct will result in dismissal from the production. Students who participate in after school theatre must understand that being cast or being a member of crew in this production is a privilege and must agree to conduct his/herself with proper behavior. The director/faculty supervisor has the right to ask a student to leave the production if he/she does not demonstrate appropriate and respectful behavior and/or do not adhere to the Ralston Valley High School Code of Conduct, including remaining eligible academically.
Cast Expectations
While at rehearsals, students are required to always dress comfortably and bring their scripts and a pencil to make notes. While we do the best we can to only call students to rehearsal when they are needed, inevitably things don’t always go as planned. It’s important that students are prepared to use their downtime wisely. We suggest working on memorization or reviewing blocking/scene work with others. We also suggest that students bring homework so they may keep up with their studies. Students should NOT use cellphones or other devices while at rehearsals unless you are using them for homework purposes. We want students to stay focused on their character and to pay attention to what is going on in the play. Students should stay in the rehearsal area and not wander off.
Crew Expectations
While at work days, students are required to always dress comfortably and safely and bring any materials they may need to complete the task at hand. Students should stay in the rehearsal area and not wander off. Students should never listen to their earbuds while they are working for safety reasons. Students on build crew especially should always wear close-toed shoes and have hair tied back. Students are never allowed to walk around on stage without shoes.
