"Scribble.io Review" by Roman G. - 3/15/24

Today we are taking a look at the free online browser game, Skribbl.io. Skribbl.io may actually stick out as a somewhat good one, but it really depends on how you play. First it brings you to the homepage where you can choose your name, your language, and find a game or create a private lobby. There is also a character customization option where you can change your 2D character’s eyes, mouth, and skin color. There is actually a decent amount of options to change it to. The round starts everybody out with zero points. The game has three rounds where each person draws once. By the end of the three rounds whoever has the most points, wins. The words are random and simple like Jupiter, tree, canyon. I tried both an online lobby and a lobby while playing with friends. I found this much more entertaining than the online lobbies because I knew who I was competing against. This game has a large possibility of being a very fun game, and I highly suggest you play with friends due to how this game lacks some filters and it is important to be careful. I suggest you grab a group of friends and give Scribbl.IO a try.

"Nintendo Review" by Aiyahna T. - 3/1/24

Ok, let me just say it, the only games we’re getting nowadays are remakes. Like, c’mon Nintendo, get some fresh meat! Today I will be reviewing “Kirby’s Return to Dreamland Deluxe,” a remake of a Kirby game. I happen to have a copy, and it’s kinda new, so let’s get into it. I will say the new mechanics are pretty cool. Of course, we have the stunning graphics, and they added sort of an easy mode, (via Helper Magolor Mode.) And then some bigger things, like 24/7 mini-games, (via Merry Magoland) new copy abilities being Sand and Amoroid, along with ANOTHER GAME, (The Magolor epilogue.) Pair that with multiplayer mechanics, and you get an overall fun game, 9/10. 

"The Renaissance Tour" By Reena G. - 3/1/24

The Beyonce Renaissance Tour was an entire cultural reset. As the 2 hour show with 34 songs played around the world, Beyonce once again set the bar for tours around the world. The Renaissance album was released July 29, 2022. The album itself was all about self love and acknowledging yourself. All the songs had much diversity and every single song had a transition to the next song. Nothing about this tour can ever make me say that it was bad. The tour had so many visuals and honestly it was so fun. I love everything about this tour and the meaning behind it. I love how everyone can be somewhat different but same at the same time. Truly words cannot explain this tour. 10/10

"Vegas for Teens" by Mason S. - 5/19/23

They say what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas”, but when you’re a teen it doesn't matter. Las Vegas is a popular tourist destination for people of all ages. However, if you're a teen, you might be wondering what there is for you to do there. One of the most popular amusement parks in Vegas is Circus Circus. This indoor theme park has over 25 rides and attractions including roller coasters, bumper cars, and a 4D theater. If that doesn't sound fun to you then you can check out the wildlife. Las Vegas has a few places where you can see exotic animals up close. The Shark Reef Aquarium has over 2,000 animals. The Flamingo Wildlife Habitat at the Flamingo Hotel is home to all kinds of birds like flamingos, swans, ducks, and other birds. Another thing you can do in Las Vegas is go shopping. Las Vegas is known for its options and there are many options for teenagers. The Fashion Show Mall is one of the largest malls in Vegas and has over 250 stores! Las Vegas might be known as a 21+ city but there are plenty of options for teens in Vegas.

"The Mitchells vs. the Machines" by Isabell M. - 5/4/23

“The Mitchells vs the Machines” was written by Michael Rianda and Jeff Rowe. The movie’s genre consists of family, comedy, action, adventure, science fiction, and animation. Katie is the main character of the movie. She’s the daughter of Rick and Linda. Katie has troubles with her family but she knows her brother gets her. The movie is about an interesting family who are The Mitchells. They are on a road trip to get Katie to her college. On the way, they notice robots. The Mitchells fight off the robots and they win! Katie and her dad sing and fight the two robots who turn good later on. Katie’s brother Aaron loves dinosaurs and he fell in love with a girl named Abbey Posey who is the daughter of the Mitchells neighbors. The recommended age group to watch it is 8-12 years old. It’s rated PG so kids can watch it on Netflix. I watched it and I believed that it is a wonderful and awesome movie to watch! If you love action, adventure, and animation, this movie is great for you to watch.

"A Fairly Odd Summer" by Isabell M. - 4/4/23

A Fairly Odd Summer” is a movie written by Butch Hartman. This movie is about a man named Timmy Turner. Timmy and his fairly odd parents, Cosmo and Wonda, go on an adventure to give his dad his paycheck and he runs into the girl he loves in Hawaii.  She has lip balm that helps dolphins. It acts like medicine to the dolphins who carry a disease; the disease is gas.  It can also help dolphins who get sunburned easily. There are multiple settings in the movie which change throughout it. This movie is great for any audience, the movie is fantasy and comedy. If you liked watching the “Fairly Odd Parents” cartoon series growing up, make sure you check this movie out, you won’t be disappointed!

"Things to do in Spring" by A.J. S. and Ella L. - 4/4/23

With the weather getting warmer I bet you’re looking for more fun stuff to do outside around town. There are many things to do, and some won’t cost you a dime, like parks! Some of the parks are near Carmody, like Carmody Park, right next door to the rec. center.  You can find tons of other parks to enjoy just by typing “parks near me” on Google.  Parks are great because they’re pretty, have play structures, areas for sports and you can chill with your friends. You can also go to malls in and around Lakewood; like Belmar, Southwest Plaza, or Colorado Mills.  While it’s free to go there, you might need to bring some money to eat or shop, but it’s still fun to hang out with your friends. Some other places are museums, aquariums, and cultural centers. To find these great places go to the Google Arts and Cultures website and click the 'near me' link at the top of the page. These are just some of the places you can go and things you can do during spring, but there are many more around Lakewood, and you can explore more on Google Maps!

"'Prison B-3087' Book Review" by Mcaylynn G. - 3/10/23

“Prisoner B-3087”, by Alan Gratz is based on a true story of a survivor of WWII, Yanek Gruener, also known as Jack. The story goes through the experiences of the brutal treatment by the Nazis in the concentration camps. He was only 10 when he was put into a ghetto. A ghetto was a place where the Nazis would put Jewish people in a secluded area with walls surrounding them. Everyone was tightly packed, with four families in a single flat. The people would get little rations and get taken off the streets to work, some being taken to camps by trucks and trains like cattle. Through the six years of WWII, Jack (Yanek) went through 10 concentration camps: Plaszow, Wieliczka salt mine, Trzebinia, Birkenau, Auschwitz, Death March, Sachsenhausen, Buchenwald, Gross-Rosen, and Dachau. The book was a fast read but enjoyable. The contents of the book in some parts are inhumane, which could drive people away. Despite that fact, all the writing was stunning and something I could just keep reading. Even some events did make me shed a tear because it was so heart-wrenching. This book might not be everyone's favorite topic to read about, but if you are willing to try it out you might find something you will never forget. Not just for the writing but for the story it tells. This novel was fantastic and a fast read that I was able to appreciate, a book I’d read again.

"Chipotle Review" By: Ella L. - 3/10/23

Did you know if you get a burrito bowl you get more food than a burrito? Chipotle is a very popular restaurant and some people may consider it fast food. Chipotle originated in Denver, CO, and was opened in July 1993. Recently they added a new chicken at Chipotle called pollo asado, it is spicy and the taste is like cayenne seasoning. Chipotle is good because all of its ingredients are fresh and natural. “Chipotle was born of the radical belief that there is a connection between how food is raised and prepared, and how it tastes. Real is better. Better for You, Better for People, Better for Our Planet. It may be the hard way to do things, but it’s the right way.” said Chipotle's vision statement.

"Puss In Boots: The Last Wish" by Isabell M. - 2/15/23

Puss in Boots: The Last Wish is about animals that go on a journey to make a wish on a star. I believe that Puss in Boots: The Last Wish is the best, most wonderful, and most awesome movie ever because it is an ever-happy movie. The only thing I don’t get about the title is the last wish part because no one made a wish. In case you don’t know Puss, he is a talking cat that wears a cape and a hat, and boots on his feet. You can watch it on Amazon Prime if you haven't watched it yet. Please watch Puss in Boots: The Last Wish if you want to watch a fun movie that makes you laugh!

"Do You  Own Air Jordans?" by Faith D. - 2/15/23

Do you need updates on recent fashion trends? The shoe brand “Air Jordan” has been around for years but barely got popular around 2022-2023. This brand has been around since April 1st, 1985. The first Air Jordan shoe was introduced in the Hall of Fame after the famous basketball player Micheal Jordan was seen wearing them in a game playing on the team Chicago Bulls. Air Jordan is also known for their famous shoes called Jordan 4’s and Jordan 11’s. These shoes come in the most unique color and all sizes. When Air Jordan drops a new style of shoes they usually get sold out by the end of the day. Do you own a pair of Air Jordans?

"All About Avatar" by Billy B. - 12/16/22

Avatar is a movie where an Ex-Marine goes to a planet called Pandora and he explores the world. He is working for an organization called the R.D.A and the planet is inhabited with Navi’s. A species that is 10 feet tall and 450 pounds; They are humanoid aliens with blue skin, also they are blessed with Sahelus or bonds on their hair that allows them to connect with the creators or pandora. They can also use these to talk to their past ones that go to their goddess, the tree of souls. They believe that all energy is just borrowed and one day must be returned. The visiting Ex-Marine is learning the ways of the navi and trying to be one with them but secretly getting R.D.A info. Overall I highly recommend watching it if or when you get the chance.

"The Golden Candlelight Walk" by Elodie B. - 12/16/22

The Golden candlelight walk is a fun way to start the holidays. You could either watch the people go by on the curb or you could join in at a certain point on the walk. After the walk, you could walk around the town square and look at all the lights and you could go to the stores in Golden to get hot chocolate and warm up. It was really cold during the walk so a lot of people got hot chocolate. It was really fun to go to especially because of the lights.

"Pac-Man" by Ava C. - 12/2/23

This Pac-Man game is fun but can be a bit hard. The design is the word Google and the purpose of the game is to eat all the dots without getting eaten by the ghosts. When the ghosts are colorful you must stay away from them but when the ghosts are blue and white you can eat them. Eat the bigger yellow dots called power pellets to make the ghosts edible The cherries and strawberries give you an extra 100 to 300 points. This game is fun so I give it a rating of 8.5 and I would say this game is people ages 3 and up because it could be a bit too complicated for a 2- year-old. People younger can still play if they want. If you want to play this game search "Pac-Man" on Google and it will pop up.

"LolBeans.io" by Allan M. - 12/2/23

Lol Beans is a fun knockoff of Fall Guys where you avoid obstacles and race to the end until you're the last bean standing. You get to play many game modes ranging from Red Light, Green Light, and Space Run. It's rated a 9/10 on a replay-ability scale

"Ice Dodo" by Allan M. - 11/10/22

Ice Dodo is a level driving game with over 40+ levels where you avoid obstacles and attempt to reach the end. It's by far the most popular game in school, though it can make you rage quite easily. It's rated an 8/10 on a replayability scale.

"Slope" by Allan M. - 11/10/22

Slope in an endless running game where you steer a ball down a steep hill avoiding obstacles and trying to get a high score. Slope overtook the school last year and is still very popular today. It's scaled a 7.5/10 on replayability scale

"Hallowen Ends Review" by Alijah R.G. - 11/10/22

Many people love the franchise Halloween by filmmaker John Carpenter, but with the newest installment of the franchise, Halloween Ends, many fans are very disappointed in the ending of the movie and the franchise. A lot of the fans have a 1-star review of the movie, it also has a 41% Rotten Tomato score. After watching the movie, I would say it's mediocre; nothing special. With the whole franchise being over, many people can say it was an anti-climatic ending to 44 years of iconic horror.

Brown Sugar Cinnamon By majority vote, the Brown Sugar Cinnamon flavored Pop-Tart is an 8 out of 10. Lemon Creme Pie The Lemon Creme Pie Pop-Tart is a 5 out of 10.

" 'Tiz A Bunch Of Hocus Pocus" by Tucker S. - 10/24/22

At the start of the second movie, it is nice that we can see more of the Sanderson sister's past and how they became witches. Honestly, I hated the new Max the old hero now screams bloody murder over apple, AN APPLE the old protagonist of the story but the initial conflict of the three main characters Bella, Izzy, and Cassie. I am glad that they made only some of the characters dumb, like Gilbert did a dumb thing but the main three were smart unlike the first where all but one were dumb. I thought it was a nice change. Like there are multiple clever moments of trickery and the end made me smile sadly.

I loved every twist and turn this ride gave me.

"WingFeather Saga" by Elodie B. - 10/1/22

The Wingfeather Saga is a really cool fantasy book series; it consists of four books The "Edge of the Dark Sea of Darkness",  "North or Be Eaten", "Monster in The Hollows", and "The Warden and The Wolf King". The book series follows three kids named Janner, Tink, and Leeli Igiby as well as their mother Nia and ex-pirate grandfather Podo. Their town Glipwood is under the rule of the fangs of dang their lizard-like people under the mysterious rule of Gnag the nameless unknown entity who believes that the Igibys possess the jewels of America. Will the Igiby escape Gnag, or will Gnag catch them? Read the Wingfeather Saga to find out.

"Star Wars" by Riar B. & Alijah R. - 10/1/22

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away George Lucas directed the movie Revenge Of the Sith' where we meet a Jedi by the name of Anakin Skywalker. Once a slave, Anakin Skywalker took on the journey of a mighty Jedi training under the wing of Obi-Wan Kenobi. During that journey, he faced mighty challenges. Although he hasn’t conquered every challenge, he persevered through every fight. Obi-Wan is his best friend, he has been through everything with Obi-Wan, ever since he was 9. Throughout the movie, there have been many adventures such as lightsaber duels, emotional rides, missions to save people, political movements, and more. Revenge of The Sith is the 3rd movie of the Star Wars franchise, it is regarded as the best of the prequels with a rotten tomato meter of 80%.
