Standard: Learning in IB World Schools is based on coherent curriculum.

Patterson International's Programme of Inquiry - As the pandemic hit, we were just starting our work on revising our entire POI. We received all new standards for Jeffco, plus we had the change to our new IB planners. Our revisions to all planners and POI will not be finalized until the 2022-2023 school year.

Standard: Learning in IB schools aims to develop students ready for further education and life beyond the classroom.
First graders taking action with their

3rd Grade getting ready to research the life cycle of an animal. The teacher posed this question to allow voice and choice for the students.
4th Grade - Inquiry Project
Students had to choose a source of energy they wanted to know more about. They were communicators to explain their project and what they learned.
Approaches to Teaching (0403)
Standard: IB programmes encourage approaches to teaching that create learning experiences that are shown to be meaningful to the school community.
Students in 4th grade are studying the concept of "Structures." Their schedule for the day is centered around the concept of "Structures."
One of the display cases in our school shows artifacts from students and the different cultures they represent. Students are encouraged to bring artifacts from their homes.

Assessment: Students create a news cast (written, video or slideshow) to persuade people to either colonize a new area or fix something in our world. Students explore how to make changes without hurting the planet more.

4th Grade - Chalk Talk. To gather more information about their students, teachers posed different questions at the beginning of their unit and students responded. They then posed the same questions at the end of the unit to see how students had grown in their learning.
