Description and Requirements

Not just anyone can join the Olympics there are requirements to join. The first one is age range, it varies from sport to sport but Nordic Combined is 15 years old. Also not everyone who signs up can enter only the best of the best can enter! Many enter but only 30 are picked. They learn how to ski at local resorts and snowboarding clubs is a primary starting points. Places like Cooper and Winter Park are good places to start. You might be wondering how do the competitors win right? Well there are three metals they give away. Gold means they got first, Silver means they got second, Bronze means you got third. First is the best, second is in between, and third is last, but winning any of the metals calls for a celebration. The scoring is based on how good was the jump, how good was you style during the jump, and when you cross the finish line.

Nordic Combined lives up to it's name the sport is a combination of ski jumping and cross country skiing. Cross country skiing is when you ski across flat ground sometimes down hill but unlike regular skiing ware it is all down hill only some of it is down hill. Ski jumping is ware you fly down hill and at the bottom of the hill is a big jump you can fly off of and do a really cool trick.
