What a great homecoming week! From Spirit Days to our Homecoming Dance, our students were able to join in the fun and truly experience the school spirit that we are so proud of here at RVHS. I wanted to take a moment to thank our faculty, staff, and Student Government for donating countless hours to ensure our students were celebrated and supported! I also wanted to thank our parents. Thank you for providing transportation to and from events, helping your students with their spirit wear, cheering your students on during the Powder Puff games, participating in the 5K Lisa Nelson walk/run, or if you are like me, driving around to countless shops looking for the perfect homecoming outfit. After a tough year and half of limited activities, together we were able to provide our students with a positive week filled with fun and school spirit. Thank you!
If you have a moment, please scroll down and check out some of the fun photos we took throughout this week!
Try to get some rest and enjoy the three-day weekend!

A lot of really awesome things taking place in our world of activities this week.
The Ralston Valley HS Deutschklub held their first Gummibärolympiade (Gummy bear Olympics) during Homecoming Week. Students had to build the highest structure with gummy bears and toothpicks, compete in the gummy bear relay race, see whose gummy bear got the furthest using a catapult, and answer questions about gummy bears and the Olympics. The winning team won German chocolate. Thanks to the Deutsch Macht Spaß grant for providing the money for the supplies.

Attendance in the Student Success Center
All students earning 2 or more “F's” in any class are required to attend support in the Student Success Center, room L1101, during their off-block. Students will receive support from an Intervention Specialist and classroom teachers around academic skills to help them improve their habits and grades. Attendance will be taken and monitored by grade-level administrators. You will receive notification on Friday if your student is required to attend the following week.
Attendance During I.C.E.
All students are welcomed and encouraged to receive content-related assistance from teachers during I.C.E. All students earning a “D” or an “F” in any class are required to attend I.C.E. according to the schedule below. A course titled “Tutorial” connected to the teachers of a student has been added to their schedule. When a student is expected to attend I.C.E., attendance will be taken and families notified of absences.
Pre-arranged Absences
Absences of three or more days of school require a "Pre-Arranged Absence" Form. Criteria for approval are listed on the form. This form is available in the Attendance Office or the Counseling Website.
These absences include any absences not specifically covered by another section of the Conduct Code, such as family vacations,
college visits, or other extended absences to be excused per Jeffco district policy.

Would your student benefit from peer tutoring? The National Honor Society at Ralston Valley High School offers a FREE tutoring service. If you would like to be paired with a tutor, please fill out this form and someone will be in contact with you shortly. Thank you!
The Mustangs finished a tremendous golf season with a 5th place finish at the state tournament this week. Senior, Gage Messingham ended his high school career with a hole in one on the second day, en route to a 3rd place state finish. You can read more about his amazing shot at https://t.co/EXmCsgjFhJ?amp=1
Huge week for the Mustang tennis team at Regionals at Cherry Creek High School. Nine of the Ralston Valley eleven qualified for the state tournament including our #1 and #2 singles.
If you have yet to pick up your Mustang Madness orders, they are available in the main office during regular school hours.
Girls swimming and diving will have their team fitting for suits on October 14th in the Cafeteria at 5:30 p.m. with a parent meeting to follow at 6:00 p.m..
COVID Testing Room
Note that the District has changed the hours of the testing center that is located at RVHS. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, the testing room will be open from 2:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. moving forward. On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, RV’s testing room will be open from 9:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Each room has an exterior door on the Northside of the school that students can use to enter the building for privacy. Entrances are labeled with yellow arrows on the map.
Students will need a consent form filled out prior to the first test. You can electronically fill out the consent form at this link. If the consent was filled out for testing last week, your student will be good for the remainder of the year.
You may prefer to have your student test at an alternative location like Walgreens, King Soopers, CovidCheckCO, or your family physician. All are acceptable. All your student needs to do is provide formal documentation from the test provider that shows a negative test result for that week. Please know that at-home tests will not be accepted.
A few reminders, please screen or have your students self-screen for any COVID symptoms before sending students to school. Please contact me (Kristie.Charron@jeffco.k12.co.us) for any student with a positive COVID test. If your student will be taking any medication at school, please complete the medication agreement form, have your doctor sign, and return to the nurse (this is also for any over-the-counter medications).
Please also continue to send state allergy, asthma, and seizure plans to myself or our health aide (michelle.hanson@jeffco.k12.co.us) in the main office. If your student has any new or existing health concerns that require a health plan, please contact the nurse so that we can get a health plan in place for your student at school.
I have included the link for the Jeffco Health Services Website which has the necessary forms to complete for medications at school.
