Welcome to Honors Geometry!!!
We will be learning the classic Euclidean Geometry Canon as well as exploring modern interpretations and applications of a very historical subject. This is a multi-dimensional subject that allows us to combine geometric relationships, classical constructions, deductive proof, inductive reasoning, transformations, and creativity to solve problems and investigate a plethora of different scenarios.
Honors Geometry students can view the calendar for lessons and assignments by clicking the calendar button on the left side of this page.
If you need help on the homework, please consider the following sources:
The very best resource you have will always be your notes from class. Take good notes and they will always be there to help you. : )
We know have a video version of just about every lesson we teach in Geometry. These lessons are stored on your Google Classroom in the VIDEO LESSONS section by chapter.
The textbook that our course packs is based on is a very solid resource. Most of our in-class examples come straight out of the textbook and can thus be reviewed easily by simply finding the coordinating section in the textbook. All definitions, postulates, and theorems can also be found in the textbook, both within the section we cover on a particular day or in the back of the book (pages 926-980). A full digital version of the textbook can be found on our Google Classroom in the RESOURCES section.
Notes and examples from class that are not included in the text book can be found attached to the calendar on many days. This won't happen everyday, but if there is a lot of extra information or examples, I will create a link through the calendar ON THE DAY THE NOTES WERE GIVEN. Let me know if you are unable to access these.
mathopenref.com is a great place to see geometric animations, especially constructions.
YouTube and Khan Academy are two excellent resources when the classroom lecture isn't enough or if a student is absent from school. Just go to those sites and search for the topic that was covered.
Otherwise, do as much work as you can and bring the rest of your questions to Access : )
If you lose a notes page, examples packet, or homework packet, please check on our Google Classroom page under the CLASS MATERIALS tab.
