About Gelak

My name is Cameron E. Gelak and this is my fifth year teaching in Colorado! I received my Bachelor's in Music Education from the University of Colorado Boulder where I also participated in the Golden Buffalo Marching Band and Buffs Basketball Band. I had the honor of studying trombone performance under Dr. Bill Stanley and conducting under Dr. Matt Roeder and Dr. Matt Dockendorf.

While studying at CU Boulder I also worked in several after-school music programs including the Middle School Ensemble (MSE), Middle School Summer Music Academy (SMA), and Westview Summer Band Camp. These experiences strengthened my love for music and empowering young adults through music. It is no small blessing that I am able to make an impact on the lives of young adults as my profession.

I was honored last year as "Teacher of the Year" by the Front Range Youth Symphony, an extracurricular scholastic organization that prides itself on nurturing young musicians. My nomination came from students and parents in the program - it was a touching and humbling experience. I am grateful to this community for its everlasting support of music!

I love to play my trombone, listen to music, read books and scores, watch movies, and spend time with my friends and family when I'm not working in the classroom or instructing the Standley Lake Gator Pride Marching Band!

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for letting me work with your children. It is something I am always grateful for! If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at Cameron.Gelak@jeffco.k12.co.us.
