Planners are a form of communication and should be checked. We will be communicating items such as what we've learned for the day, homework assignments, and special events or due dates.
We will have a quick snack every morning during our brain break time. Please send your child with a healthy snack.
Students should bring a water bottle to class daily. 4th grade classrooms and the blue pod do not have water fountains available. As the water fountain is farther away, students should fill their bottles at home to avoid missing valuable class time. Please only fill water bottles with water. Students are expected to take their water bottles home daily to be washed.
Library checkout days will be determined at the beginning of the year.
Books checked out from the library have a two week checkout. Parents typically receive an overdue notice email if your child has any overdue books.
Birthdays:
We know that birthdays are a big deal! We will celebrate your child's special day at school. Jeffco's wellness policy does not allow treats for birthdays.
Here is a link to the District Wellness Policy for Birthday Celebrations: http://www.jeffcoschoolfood.org/district-wellness-policy
We also do not allow any birthday invitations to be distributed during school hours. If you would like to distribute birthday invitations, this can be done outside of school upon dismissal.
Students are expected to read 30 minutes a day, five days per week at home.
Encourage reading a variety of books and genres. Your child may occasionally bring home their book club book from school to finish, if necessary.
Mainly accessed online through our Illustrative Math curriculum portal on student chromebooks
Multiplication math facts should be practiced at home often because they are essential throughout the school year
Time will be given in the classroom to complete any math homework practice. If your student does not choose to use this time, any assigned practice may be sent home.
Homework in 4th grade is reflective of the work we do in the classroom. Any homework assignment that is assigned is typically due the next day or by the end of the week. Students are given time within class to complete homework.
Typical homework includes:
Section Math Packet
Read for 20 to 30 minutes
Spelling Practice Worksheets
Any unfinished work
Note to Parents or Caregivers:
If you find that your child is struggling with an assignment at home, please let us know via email, or encourage your child to speak with us directly. This way, we can support your child during the school day to ensure they are understanding the concept at hand.
End of unit assessments and quizzes are graded to determine student mastery in comparison to our academic standards.
Students are always encouraged to make corrections for increased understanding.
