Writing

We write every day in Kindergarten.

At the beginning of the year we are working on correct letter formation, which we continue throughout the year. We love to sing about where you begin your letters, "At the TOP!"

We write about our adventures, we write about our friends, we write about ourselves, we make lists, we draw and label, and we complete a research project.

We learn the terms author and illustrator and know that is what we are working on each day - to be the est authors and illustrators we can be!

For extra Writing practice at home:

• Have your child write their own words matching letter sounds

• Have your child leave one finger space between each word

• Have your child check his or her work by reading it to you

• Write with a purpose in mind (lists, stories, thank you notes…)

• Write in shaving cream

• Write in the bathtub or shower

• Write with chalk

• Most of all, have fun with writing - it is the gateway to being a GREAT reader!
