When I joined 7th grade, I wished that I knew some stuff beforehand. You may not realize but you have to get work done, when you work on things at the last minute, it doesn't feel good at all because you just build up your anxiety and stress. You got to work at home because you don't actually get that much time to work in classes, which means you have to work at home more often than you may be used to. But you don't need to panic as much because you don't get homework unless you didn't complete a assignment in time and that just becomes homework. I was really nervous joining because so many things are different from 6th grade, but you will have much fun in foundations. There are many fun classes and many fun trips, you'll meet many new people and many fun advisors. You don't have to stress too often unless you work on it at the last minute, all you have to do is have fun and work hard but you must overdue yourself, you still have to take care of yourself.
Work hard. Have fun. Be yourself.

I slowly open my eyes, my vision goes back and forth from black and white. I finally open my eyes to see my entirely white ceiling, I sit up and look around. I get out of bed, and seeing no one around, I hear talking upstairs. I make my way upstairs and see all of my family sitting around. Everyone's faces were pale, and everyone was in deep shock and horror, I sit down and hear the news from my mother, my face turns pale, and the edge of my eyes starts forming tears. The moon would crash into Earth and we only had 24 hours before it would hit us.
We, kids, were on the verge of tears, knowing that we were all going to be gone and there was nothing we could do. Our parents are on calls with friends and family. It was happening all over the world. We all decided to spend time together, we all gathered together as a family to say our goodbyes and spend the rest of our remaining time as a family. We made jokes and acted like nothing was wrong and we were just having a party, that the world wasn't doomed that it was just a regular day. Only 4 hours left, the moon kept getting closer and closer to Earth, so close you can almost see every detail about the moon, and every time it got closer it would start flaring up until it completely started turning into a blazing ball of fire.
Only 1 hour left, everyone got close to each other, we all hold our breaths and await death. Pets barking and making sounds. Babies crying, everyone was close enough, and you could hear the others crying softly. We all say our goodbyes, and everyone keeps getting warmer and warmer, with the moon so close it's hard to see outside of the window, finally, the final minute passed and my vision say only red and black, I couldn't hear, and I couldn't feel. My eyes jolt awake, and I feel my forehead drenched in a cold sweat, I run upstairs and see my dad eating like normal and the dogs playing. Then my heart stopped. The news guy said "Today was a blessing, scientists were able to stop a meteor from hitting Earth, otherwise, we would have all died in 24 hours and there would be no way to see the light of day ever again,"

Thomas was a very confusing guy. He was against slavery yet he still had slaves. "One historian estimated that Jefferson had owned more than six hundred slaves over the course of his lifetime" (p.77). Yet he wanted to end slavery. "He had been a segregationist at times, an assimilationist at other times-usually both in the same act-but he never quite made it to being antiracist"(p.77). I'm just mostly confused about this man, he says things but never even follows his own words. He called black people his friends but has he ever seen them truly? Has he ever seen black people as human, as friends? This man is the most confusing guy that I have ever heard of in history.

It was midnight, I was walking through the park for a nightly walk. The air smelled like cheez balls and diet coke. No doubt though, the park smelled like something weird, yesterday, it was ice cream and flowers. There was a homeless man sleeping on a bench, right next to diet coke and cheez balls. Guess that explains why.
Then an icy breeze goes by me very fast. It was fast enough that I couldn't see what it was. I look behind me, only to see the homeless man there still asleep. Then out of nowhere, I see a ghost drifting by. The ghost was a woman walking her dog.
The woman didn't seem to be a danger to anyone, so I just continue walking on. It was normal for me to see ghosts, even around the park, ghosts have their own lives than just hunting people. I stop in front of the homeless guy on my way back home, it seemed to have awakened him. He let out a big scream and started running for his life. I guess I wasn't that friendly looking of a ghost to him.

The witch reached her hand back for me and smiled. "Hop on!" she yelled, over the sound of the howling wind. "We don't have much time!", I hopped on. "Where are we going? Why are we in a hurry?" I yelled hanging on tight to her. She didn't seem to hear me from the wind blowing. We made it back to the house and slowed down.
We dropped down from the broom and she ran into the house. I chase after her, we run into the kitchen and down into the basement, she jumped onto the couch and grabbed the remote. "Come on!" she yelled from the couch flipping through TV stations. "What is it?" I said sitting on the couch right next to her. "We were going to miss our favorite show!" she said smiling hugely.
"Okay, okay," I said sighing and giggling. She finally found it and we started watching the movie, after the movie, we got up and made our way upstairs. "Did you take your pills?" she asked well we walked up the stairs. "No? Why?" I asked making it up the stairs and looking down at her. "Because I died a long time ago friend," she said as a smile grew on her face, and then she disappeared into nothing.

Common Lit Reading Lesson "How the need to belong"
The need to belong influences human behavior in people saying lies or only parts or trying to fit in with what they are doing or wear what they wear to fit in with a specific group. In paragraph 4 one sentence says "For example, a new member of the high school football team might adopt the dress and mannerisms of the other members of the team in order to fit in with the rest of the group." This tells us that someone would adapt to how they dress and the mannerisms of the other people in the group just to fit in. In paragraph 4 again it says "For example, people often present themselves in a particular way in order to belong to a specific social group." This shows that people say things that aren't true or only parts of themselves.
That's why people lie, say parts of themselves, or change who they are just to fit in with the group or get in the group.
