Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome to your student's eighth grade year of math. The following is information that is beneficial for you to know regarding my procedures for the math virtual and hybrid classroom.

My lessons and assignments will be posted daily on my Google Classroom. There will be instruction each day that the students will need to follow. If needed, I will post notes, videos and websites. The expectation is that students will complete the assignment each day before 11:59 pm and turn it in. They are required to show your work and post a picture of the work on the day it was assigned on Google Classroom.

If a student is absent or needs to hand in a late assignment, they need to first complete the assignment. They then will need to fill out a form on the Absent and Late Work Form on Google Classroom letting me know they have completed and submitted the assignment. Once I am notified that they have handed in the assignment, the grade will be updated every Thursday afternoon. If it is handed in after noon on Thursday, the grade will be put the grade in the following Thursday.

Effort/Work Habits grades are based on assignments in and out of class. The students will receive one point for every assignment handed in on time and a half point for a late assignment.

Khan is an expectation. The students are required to do 30 minutes each week. On shortened weeks, they can make-up 30 minutes for a week or use any extra 30 minutes for extra credit. They cannot make-up khan any other time. They receive one point each week for each minute of their content related topics. Some weeks they will be assigned assignments. If they finish these assignments early, they still are required to have their 30 minutes. They can work on their mission until they get their 30 minutes. If they do not finish their assignments in the 30 minutes, they can make them up another week up until the end of the trimester. All assignments are to be completed by the end of the trimester.

All assignments can be corrected for a higher grade. Students can gain back any points for full credit. If students need to correct a BIM assignment, they need to let me know and I will un-submit it. Math 8 students need to work on their homework for a maximum of 45 minutes. If their homework is taking longer than 45 minutes, sign the top of the paper letting me know and they will be graded for the problems they completed. Algebra's homework should not take more than 60 minutes.

Math 8 can use any notes on their assessments. Algebra can use their notes on a quiz and a notecard on tests.

If students have any questions or need to contact me, they should email me at rpattiso@jeffco.k12.co.us or ranae.martin@jeffcoschools.us.
