Dear Parents,
Here are the reading intervention activities for this week:
Kindergarten: Please continue to work on phonemic awareness and alphabetic recognition activities. Each day, spend 10-15 working on activities that teach letter-sound relationships. Some examples include:
1. Matching letters to pictures by beginning, middle and ending sounds of words. For example /b/ with balloon, /t/ for cat.
2. Use alphabet flashcards to match upper and lower case letters.
3. Practice identifying letters by sound. For example, lay out the letter m and say, "what sound does this letter make?"
4. Play alphabet bingo- have your child place a tile on the board either by stating a letter name, sound, or word with that sound.
5. Play "I Spy" Use items around the house to practice letter sounds. For example, "I spy something that starts with a /t/. What's the word? Table.
