Below are the standards that are assessed in different ways for each grade level. To read more about the standards, visit here.
1 Approaching - Partial success with concepts that are precursors to the primary standard being evaluated.
2 Preparing - Partial success with the standard with help or additional support.
3 Meeting - Independant succcess with standard
4 Exceeding - Independant success with the standard and showing advance skills beyond that expected at the grade level of the student.
I have a strong belief that students are constantly working towards a higher and more complex level of success with concepts that they learn. I believe it is important for students to know that even if they aren't successful with something yet, doesn't mean they never will be. At Kyffin, we use a 1, 2, 3, 4 system for grading in AMP. Each of these grades shows a different place in the progress towards success. Even if seeing a 1 or a 2 seems devastating, it really just means that the student is working towards success. Please see below for a breakdown on what each level means.
