April is National Poetry Month and our April Library Challenge is Picturize a Poem. We have 10 poems printed off our in the library. Students can choose a poem, read it closely, and then draw their interpretation of the theme in the white space all around the poem. All submissions are due by April 28th to the library. Winning submission will win a king sized candy! Best of luck to all our KCMS poets and artists.

Award winning graphic novelists Vera Brosgol and Hope Larson visited KCMS, giving an inspiring author talk to 250 students. They discussed their journey to becoming authors and illustrators, as well as shared the inspiration for their many works. In partnership with The Tattered Cover, the authors held a book signing after the event. Our students had a wonderful time learning about the creative process and how the presenters overcome obstacles to achieve their dreams.
Ms. Shomaker's honors students had such fun Skyping Alvis and Travis, park rangers from Agate National Park. They were able to ask in depth questions about geology and paleontology as they begin their unit, Geological Events Through Time.
