Hello, wonderful families!

I'm so excited to introduce myself as Miss Thompson, your child's 4th-grade teacher for the coming school year! I'm genuinely thrilled to begin this new adventure with all of you and can't wait to get to know each student and family. This is my seventh year teaching and my second year right here at Foothills. I absolutely love teaching 4th grade because of all the exploring, learning, and fun we get to share!

As a proud Colorado native, I even grew up attending Jefferson County Public Schools. I earned my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with a focus on culturally and linguistically diverse education from MSU Denver. Later, I completed my master's degree in curriculum and instruction from WGU.

This summer was a fun mix of relaxation and new projects! I spent a lot of time reading, working on home renovations, and hanging out with friends. A definite highlight was a trip to San Francisco with two of my closest friends, where we visited Alcatraz and even got to ride in self-driving cars – quite an experience! Since we bought our first house in March, much of my summer also involved working on our yard and, yes, tackling a leaky shower – the joys of homeownership!

I'm incredibly excited to be back with the Foothills family, and I truly can't wait to see all the amazing things this school year will bring! Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns. The best ways to reach me are via email or Talking Points.

Sincerely,

Rachel Thompson
