Chatfield Area Elementary Instrumental Music Info Site

We are so excited that your child is considering being in band or orchestra. It is a wonderful opportunity for kids to learn an instrument, do something positive with a group, and challenge themselves with something new! This website is intended to share information with you regarding the Chatfield Elementary Band and Orchestra programs. After your child has signed up for band or orchestra, please use the websites listed below to find information associated with both programs.

Please check out Be a Part of the Orchestra to learn more about each orchestra instrument.  Orchestra instruments include the violin, viola, cello, and bass.

Please check out this video to learn more about each band instrument. Beginning band instruments include flute, oboe, clarinet, alto sax, trumpet, french horn, trombone, baritone and percussion (students will learn the bells first then we add in snare drum - there is no drumset in elementary band).

Our information night is Tuesday, August 29th, 2023 at Chatfield Senior High at 6:30pm where we will present information and answer questions about the Chatfield area elementary band and orchestra program. We will also have fliers regarding how you can rent instruments. You can look into renting online through Sweetwater by using this link. You can also rent through a local music store. There will not be band instruments to rent at the information night  but, for sizing purposes, Sol Vista string rentals will be available. Because all 5th grade students will have the opportunity to try the different band and orchestra instruments at their school, we will not have instruments to try at the info night. If your child is gone on the day the students tried out the instruments at their school and they want to try a couple of different instruments, please email Mrs. Cavaliere by Monday the 28th so she can make arrangements for your child at the info night. If you can't make it to the info night on the 29th, please check out our slideshow and be sure to visit Mrs. Bock's (orchestra) or Mrs. Cavaliere's (band) website for orchestra and band registration and other important information.

We meet twice a week for 40 minutes.  We will start band and orchestra the week of September 4th (starting the day after Labor Day). For the first class, band students do not need their instruments but orchestra should bring theirs to help start the tuning process. We will go over how band and orchestra will work this year and make sure that all students understand everything that they will need to bring to the second class (this includes their instrument, a pencil and their book). In order for students to not fall behind, the last day a student can sign up for band and orchestra is the third class
