1. Excellence: This value refers to giving ones best, on the field of play and in life without over emphasizing comparative performance yet still being determined to reach one's personal objectives. It is not only about winning, but also about participating, making progress against personal goals, striving to be and to do our best in our daily lives and benefiting from the healthy combination of a strong body, mind and will.
2. Respect: This value represents respect for one's self and one's body, respect for one another, for rules as well as the environment. It refers to a fair play attitude athletes should have and commit to. Dakota soccer players should demonstrate supreme respect towards peers, teachers, facilities, and community members at all times and with all actions help shine a positive light on our program.
3. Friendship: This value refers to building a peaceful and better world through solidarity, team spirit, joy and optimism in sport. Athletics inspire people to overcome political, economic, gender, racial or religious differences and forge friendships in spite of these differences. This means forming meaningful relationships with teammates as well as opponents. Soccer is a special human experience that helps unite people while at same time contributes to the eradication of social issues like poverty, disease and racism. The corner stone of the sport lies in its ability to create friendship through competition; it truly is the world’s game.
