Interior Design (Grades 9-12)

Interior Design I Residential (Fall)

The purpose of Interior Design I- Residential is to expose students to various aspects of the interior design industry and is based on the industry’s professional standards (Council of Interior Design Accreditation-CIDA). The first semester focuses on residential design. Students integrate knowledge, skills and practices to evaluate potential career opportunities. Areas of focus include: Introduction to Residential and Commercial Design; Design Drawings; Professional Practices/Education; Design Elements and Principles; and the Design Process.

Interior Design I Commercial (Spring)

The purpose of Interior Design I- Commercial is to expose students to various aspects of the interior design industry and is based on the industry’s professional standards (Council of Interior Design Accreditation-CIDA). The first semester focuses on residential design. Students integrate knowledge, skills and practices to evaluate potential career opportunities. Fashion Design & Merchandising (Grades 9-12)

Full Year Course

Fashion Design and Merchandising is for students who wish to increase their knowledge and further their skills in the fashion design and merchandising industry. Topics include fashion designers, careers, clothing selection, fibers and fabrics, and fashion illustration. Projects are planned and completed in relation to the student’s individual interest and skill level. Students will acquire hand sewing skills and complete multiple hand sewing projects. Then students will learn to sew on a sewing machine to demonstrate advanced sewing skills. They will learn to follow sewing patterns to create garments of their choice.

FCCLA

Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) is a Career and Technical Student Organization that functions as an integral part of the Family and Consumer Sciences education curriculum and operates within the school system. Since 1945, FCCLA members have been making a difference in families, careers, and communities by addressing important personal, work, and societal issues. Through participation in Competitive Events, becoming involved in community service opportunities, student leadership, and attending leadership conferences, members develop real world skills, explore Career Pathways, and become college- and career-ready.
