Arvada West

Beginning on February 23, mandatory practice is daily (unless you hear otherwise from your coach). All Track & Field athletes are expected to be at practice on this date.

Remember - only athletes and coaches are allowed at practice. Make sure to bring water and wear proper attire.

For practice, we meet at the track (no later than 3:45 p.m.) – dressed and ready to train, unless you hear otherwise from your coach.

Monday, February 23 - Thursday, February 27, check in with Coach Della at the north gate of the track when you arrive for practice. You will then be directed to the appropriate coach.

The duration of practice varies – it depends on the workout each day. We are usually done sometime between 5:00 and 5:30. You are expected to be at practice for the entire duration.

Before athletes can compete in a meet, they must attend 3 practices.

For all high school sports, practice and competing in meets is mandatory during the season.

According to the policy regarding practice in the Jeffco Athlete's Handbook: Team members of all sports are required to attend all scheduled practices and meetings during the established sports season. If circumstances arise whereby the student cannot attend a practice or meeting, the validity of the reason will be adjudged by the individual coach. In all cases, however, the coach must be notified, prior to the practice or meeting missed, by personal contact, phone call, or written statement from the parent or guardian.

Registration will open on Monday, January 19. The registration site will close on Friday, February 20 at 3:30 p.m., so please register asap!

All athletes need to register prior to Friday, February 20 at 3:30 p.m. - here. Per CHSAA rules, athletes may not attend practice until all registration requirements are complete. Physical

In order to compete in Track & Field, your athlete will need a current physical. Your physical is valid for one year from the date it is signed by your physician and must be uploaded to the registration site for EACH sport during the registration process during the year. If your physical expires soon - get one now! CHSAA requires a Pre-evaluation Physical Form be filled out. Page 4 of this document needs to be signed by your doctor and uploaded to your account. Don't forget to take it to your appointment. Detailed instructions are included on the form. Parent and athlete must also sign and date the bottom of the CHSAA form.

Please follow the directions during registration regarding submission of your physical. DO NOT bring a hard copy to the office or email your physical to the office - you must upload it to your registration account.

You can visit the The Little Clinic at the King Soopers on Youngfield in Wheat Ridge.

Track & Field Parent/Athlete Meeting - Mandatory

Monday, March 2

Arvada West High School Library

6:00 p.m.

Please join us for the Mandatory Track & Field Parent/Athlete meeting. Important information will be distributed at this meeting regarding the season. All sports are required by CHSAA to hold a Parent/Athlete meeting. Even if you are a returning athlete and have attended the meeting before, athlete and a parent/guardian still must attend. No need to RSVP.

Prior to our meeting, please read the following items:

We will go over the Track & Field Policies and Information at the meeting (you will receive a copy by email after the meeting, and it will be posted to the Announcements Tab on our website).

Exciting news! We've been cleaning out our Track & Field cage, so we are having a Cage Sale at our meeting! All proceeds will benefit the Track & Field team. We will have past Arvada West sweat suits, nylon pants, and t-shirts for sale (sizes are limited). All items are $10 each. We can accept cash or checks made payable to Arvada West High School.

Jeffco Athletic Fee

The Jeffco athletic fee (refer to Jeffco Athletic Fee - Where Does it Go?) of $185 will post to your account for payment sometime after rosters have been completed – be patient. This could be the second or third week of the season.

Sunday Contact

Per CHSAA rules, coaches are not allowed to communicate about Track & Field with students or parents on Sundays during the season. Any emails received on Sunday will be replied to the following morning. Also, per CHSAA rules, only athletes and coaches may attend practice.
