If you can't find an item that you'd like by searching our catalog, there are a few different ways to get the title you're looking for:

Request A Title for Library Purchase

The library welcomes suggestions for additions to our collection from our cardholders. To request that JCL purchase an item, please fill out the Request for Purchase form online or contact your local branch.

If the library does decide to purchase the requested item you will be automatically placed on hold for it. It may take a few weeks for the order decision to be made and processed. The hold will not show on your account until after this has been done.

Purchasing decisions are made based on the library's Collection Development Policy and budgetary concerns.

ATTENTION: Interlibrary Loan (ILL) will no longer be available at JCL.

Due to increased fees, Jefferson County Library has had to make the tough decision to discontinue ILL in order to best serve the majority of patrons with high demand services. Check out the services linked below for possible replacement sourcing of desired materials.

Missouri Evergreen

Jefferson County Library is a part of a library consortium called ‘Missouri Evergreen.’ Even though ILL is discontinued, resource sharing partnerships like these allow our patrons access to 4,733,166 items for check out!

Reciprocal Agreements

Jefferson County Library has a reciprocal borrowing agreement with St. Louis County Library. If you live in one of our service districts and support us by paying an annual library tax, you can get a reciprocal card at SLCL for no additional charge.
