JAMAICA DIASPORA TASKFORCE ACTION NETWORK (JDTAN)
YOUTH MENTORSHIP PROGRAM
JDTAN building capacity by equipping young Jamaicans (Mentees) with the tools to attain their ultimate social, academic, and professional goals.
The JDTAN Mentorship Program is a collaboration with The Oracabessa High School in St Mary, Jamaica. This mentorship Initiative is the brainchild of Dr. Leo Gilling, past student and the transformational principal, Mrs. Natrecia Whyte Lothian of Oracabessa High School. The JDTAN Mentorship Program which was launched at the start of the 2024 – 2025 academic school year is chaired by Dr. Collin M. Wolfe.
The JDTAN Mentorship Program requires continuous parent / guardian engagement, student participation, and mentor commitment. JDTAN Mentors participate in a specially designed orientation program, which prepares them to adequately maneuver the ethical, educational policy, and legal guidelines governing the initiative.
Mentees will acquire self-regulated skills evidenced by their scholastic and career enhancement, achieved through building personal resilience gained from the strengthening of their emotional and social intelligence.
