The Jamaica Diaspora Taskforce Action Network (JDTAN) is collaborating with the Ministry of Health & Wellness to bring together policy makers, government officials, representatives from NGOs and advocacy groups, healthcare professionals, researches and academics, industry professionals, community leaders and other key stakeholders to explore ways in which the diaspora can contribute to the control of NCDs in Jamaica. The Virtual Summit will be held August 14 - 15, 2025.
Objectives:
1. To Raise Awareness: Educate the diaspora about the current NCD situation in Jamaica, including statistics, risk factors, and
health disparities.
2. To Promote Collaboration: Facilitate dialogue between diaspora members, local healthcare professionals, and government
representatives and other stakeholders to identify opportunities for collaboration in NCD control.
3. To Share Best Practices: Showcase successful initiatives from other countries that have engaged their diaspora in health-related
efforts.
4. To Identify Actionable Solutions: Develop a list of actionable strategies and projects through which the diaspora can contribute to
NCD prevention, early detection, and management in Jamaica.
Expected Outcomes:
1. Increased awareness among diaspora members about the NCD situation in Jamaica.
2. Identification of viable projects that leverage the diaspora's skills, resources, and networks to address NCDs.
3. Strengthened connections and partnerships between diaspora members, local healthcare stakeholders, and government
