Here are some faces to be familiar with!
This is my seventh year as a school counselor in Johnston but my eleventh year overall. Previously I was a 7-12th grade school counselor in Earlham, IA. I also have coached cross country and track & field for the Dragons. I grew up in DeWitt, IA but have lived in Des Moines since graduating from the University of Northern Iowa, Go Panthers! In my free time I mostly am Mom to my two young daughters, but I also enjoy golfing, making charcuterie boards, and going for walks and hikes with my husband Michael and our Labrador Retreiver, Drake.

This is my tenth year as a school counselor. Prior to this job I was a math teacher for 14 years. I grew up in Northwest Iowa, and attended school at Buena Vista University where I earned my undergraduate degree, and received my Masters in School Counseling at Drake University in Des Moines. I live with my husband, Andy, and our two daughters, ages 14 and 11, and our Brittany dog. I have lived in the Des Moines area for 24 years. I spend a lot of my time outside of school enjoying watching my daughters participate in soccer and other various activities.

I am very excited to start my second year counseling as a Johnston Dragon! I started coaching Track and Cross Country for Johnston in 2005, and I currently work with our Varsity Girls’ programs. I have a BA in Psychology and a Masters in Counseling from Upper Iowa University. Prior to my role as School Counselor, I worked in various social work positions as we moved around the country (living in Texas, North Carolina and Georgia). I have been married to my husband Tony for 21 years and we have two children, Micah and Evitt who attend JHS. In my spare time I love to spend time with my family, run, ride my bike, and travel!
I have worked in education for over 16 years. Most of my roles as a secretary and a teacher associate. In my free time I like to spend time with my family, boating, traveling, shopping and family dinners. I have been married to my husband for 28 years. I have a daughter, Michaela and a son, Zachary. They both live and work in the Des Moines area.
