How to Record Video & Audio

Screen Record iPad with QuickTime Player

Plug your iPad into your computer with a USB cable. If your iPad asks to trust this computer, tap "Trust" and confirm with your passcode.

Open the application QuickTime Player.

A file browser window will open. Click Cancel at the bottom.

Under File, click New Movie Recording.

By default, QuickTime Player will create a new recording session with your FaceTime camera selected.

To the right of the red record button, click on the dropdown arrow to choose a camera source. Look for your attached iPad and click on it.

If you need to double-check the name of your iPad, under your iPad's Settings, tap on General, then About. Your iPad's name will be listed at the top of the screen.

The QuickTime window will mirror your iPad's display. Press the red record button to begin recording it. When you are done, press the button again to stop the recording. You can then save your video to your computer.

By default, QuickTime will record audio from your computer's microphone, so you can narrate over the video feed of your iPad if you want. Otherwise, you can change the audio source with the same dropdown menu to your iPad or other source.
