How to Turn off Chrome Notifications

What are Push Notifications?

Push notifications, also called web push notifications or browser push notifications, are messages sent by a website. You may receive these messages even when the website is not open. For example, YouTube may send you a push notification when one of your subscribed channels uploads a new video.

However, not all push notifications are useful, and some may contain ads or malware masquerading as legitimate website information. For this reason, it is usually better to block notifications than allow them.

If you find that you have allowed notifications from websites that you no longer want, follow these directions to turn them off.

How to Disable Push Notifications

1. In Chrome, click on the Customize (three dots) menu in the upper-right-hand corner, then select Settings.

2. Click on Privacy and security in the left menu, then click on Site settings.

3. On the Site Settings page, scroll down and click on the Notifications menu.

4. A list will open of all the websites for which notifications have been blocked or allowed. Click on the three dots next to the website from which you want to block notifications.

5. In the dropdown menu, choose Remove. This will revoke the website's permission to send push notifications to your computer.
