Performing a Hard Reset

Performing a hard reset on an iPad is a good first step to addressing all manner of issues, such as crashing apps or battery glitches. If a student is experiencing issues with their iPad, have them first perform a hard reset before proceeding further.

To do a hard reset, press and hold down both the power button and the home button on the iPad.

Home button, located on the bottom center of the front of the iPad.

Power button, located on the top left corner of the back of the iPad (directly above the camera).

After about five seconds, the screen should go black. Keep holding the buttons down until you see the white Apple logo appear, at which point you can let go of the buttons.

The iPad should start up as normal.
