iPad Troubleshooting Tips

Check the Proxy Connection

If you are not able to open any websites or you are not receiving emails, first make sure that you are connected to the Johnston district network via the Proxy Connect app. On your home screen, find the Proxy app icon. It should look like a WiFi signal with the word "Proxy" below it. Once you are able to view the Johnston homepage, close out of the Proxy app and reopen Safari/Mail. You may need to restart the app; double-click the home button on your iPad and swipe the app up to close it, then tap on the app icon again on your home screen to reopen it. You should now be able to access websites and receive emails.

Update Apps

To update an app from home, first make sure that your iPad is connected to WiFi. You

do not need to delete the app from your iPad. Open the Self Service cart, search for

the app, and select reinstall. You can search for an app using the Search button in

the bottom right corner. To install an app from Self Service, tap the Install button

below the app icon. You can also tap on the app icon for more information about the

app. When you reinstall an app this way, only the app data will be updated; your

stored data should not be affected.

Use the Help Desk

If you are having problems fixing your iPad, please submit a help desk ticket. Find the Help Desk app on your iPad and fill out the information. Include the serial number and an email/phone number where you can be reached. Try a hard reset before you submit a Setting help ticket. To do a hard reset, press and hold down both the power button and the home button on the iPad. Hold down until a white screen with an apple appears.

Check Settings

Please do not change any settings on the iPad. This includes parental controls, screen time, passcode, location services, etc.

Log In with JDragonmail

If you are having trouble opening a YouTube video on the iPad, you will need to make sure that you are logged into your district JDragonmail account. If you are using Safari there is a “sign in” button in the righthand side of the embedded video.
