Connecting to the Proxy

When students use their iPads at home, they must first establish a proxy connection in order to have access to apps, email, and the Internet. The proxy connection redirects their Internet traffic through the Johnston district network, allowing them access to school resources.

To connect to the proxy, students must first connect to their home WiFi network (the proxy connection cannot be established from the Johnston district WiFi).

Once the student is connected to their home Wi-Fi, they must open the Proxy app on their iPad home screen. The Proxy app looks like a WiFi icon with the word "PROXY" below it.

Upon opening the Proxy app, it will ask the student to download some certificate settings. Tap on either of the "Proxy User" options that appear.

If the connection is successful, the Johnston Community School District homepage should load. The student should now have access to Self Service, the Internet, and other apps that require an Internet connection.
