Beginning of the Year Tech Checklist

  • Moodle is a course management system.

  • Moodle courses will need to be reset for the new school year.

  • Please be mindful not to reset the "teacher" role in the course, or else you will bounce yourself out of your own course. (If this happens, send an email to Chad Kennelly or Wendy Quam with your name and course title to be re-added.)

  • Moodle guides are available on the Moodle Guides course under Categories > Professional Development > Moodle Guides (the keycode is: moodle)

  • Staff are expected to have a signature line on their district email accounts.

  • Both Outlook (@johnston.k12.ia.us) and JDragonmail (@jdragonmail.us) accounts must have signatures set up.

  • If staff choose to put district email accounts on their phones, an email signature must also be set up separately on the phone.

SchoolDude

  • SchoolDude is used for placing maintenance tickets. We use this for tech support regarding hardware, software, iPad apps, and Infinite Campus.

Showbie

  • Showbie is an app used to assign, collect, and review student work.

  • To get your new classes set up within Showbie, you can:

    • Copy the class (assignments and shared folder items) to a new class, OR

    • Delete the class and start fresh with new classes
