In Johnston, our teachers work in Professional Learning Communities (PLC). A PLC is educators committed to working collaboratively in ongoing processes of collective inquiry and action research to achieve better results for the students they serve. PLCs operate under the assumption that they key to improved learning for students is continuous, job-embedded learning for educators.
We recognize that support and learning within the PLC structure is a wonderful opportunity for collaborative growth. This collaborative growth will impact both teachers and students. Therefore, our TLC roles are integral to the support provided within a PLC.
Teachers may engage in coaching cycles with our TLC leaders. These cycles directly impact student learning and place our TLC leaders alongside teachers in the day to day work of the profession.
