Encapsulating Syracuse

Hello, my name is Samuel Dziedzic and I am a Junior at Jamesville-Dewitt High School. I came to learn about the massive lead issue that impacts up to 40% of children in Syracuse due to my mother. She is a teacher at an elementary school in Syracuse and sees firsthand the damage lead can do to individuals in respect to both their health and education. Since then I knew that something had to be done about this epidemic that is ruining the lives of so many children. I decided to tackle this with a research question: "How can local efforts reduce lead poisoning via lead paint in Syracuse NY?" To answer this question I met with many local professionals to devise a system that provides education and aid to individuals across Syracuse so that they can protect themselves and their families from lead poisoning.
