I’m just now realizing that I haven’t been actually WRITING about my Mentor Meetings after having them. Luckily, I remember both my November and December meetings with Mr. Klemperer. Back in November, he and I discussed what my project will be. We went over the capabilities of it, like file management, file running capabilities, etc. and the overall functionality of my project. Come December, we met yesterday as of writing this, and we discussed where I’m at currently with my project. Now that I have a set base for my project, I can start the heavy lifting of the project, the real meat and potatoes. We discussed how I would go about starting the software development for my device, which as of now and seemingly for most, if not all of the project, will be a Raspberry Pi. What’s convenient about this is that it already has a Linux based OS installed onto the device. I can modify and hack together whatever I need it to do much easier than it would be on something that’s not linux, or a custom OS. We exchanged how excited we both are for the project, said our goodbyes, and I went back to math class.

While meeting with Mr. Naradowsky, our conversation took a turn towards emulation, which in a large way, is what my project is about. This is when he brought up the MiSTer, a device capable of not only emulation, but recreating the environment of the original device the ROM (or “Read-Only Memory”) that it ran in, re-creating all of the potential hardware related events, bugs, errors, etc. That is all supposed to happen with an older game.
