Nov. 11 Salute to Our Veteran's at 9:00 AM
Nov. 19 Thanksgiving Feast with Families
Upcoming Dates
We are looking forward to honoring our veterans during our ceremony on November 11th. If you are a veteran or a family of a veteran, we would love to highlight you during our ceremony. Please complete the Google form, linked here, and we are looking forward to you joining us. If you have any questions, please contact asbarnes@jcss.us.
We are excited to invite you to join your student(s) for a Thanksgiving Holiday Meal in November! This will be a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a special meal together and celebrate the season.
6th Grade Meal: Tuesday, November 19 (see times below)
7th & 8th Grade Meal: Wednesday, November 20 (see times below)
Cost: $4.25 per adult meal (exact change only)
Payments must be made in cash or check (payable to the WJMS cafeteria), or you can pre-pay using a credit/debit card via this SchoolPay Link.
Please note: Refunds will not be issued if a student is absent or an adult cannot attend. These funds will be applied to the school’s Angel Fund.
To make check-in as smooth as possible, we’re asking all parents/guardians to RSVP and provide information in advance to speed up the Raptor security process. If you complete the form ahead of time, we’ll pre-print your badge, which you can pick up after showing your ID on the day of the event. Please click HERE to RSVP by Nov. 12 and complete the pre-screening process.
If you don’t pre-screen, you’ll need to go through the Raptor process on the day of the event, so please arrive 20-25 minutes early with your driver’s license. All attendees must wear their Raptor badge at all times.
On the day students are not scheduled for the Holiday Meal, a “grab-n-go” lunch will be the option. These meals will include hot entrees or PB&J, with sides, and students will return to their classrooms to eat.
We look forward to celebrating this Thanksgiving with you and your students!

School Updates
This week's feature for our Panther Parent Pro Tip is viewing your student's grades and reports in Infinite Campus. Remember, in order to follow these steps, you must have an active parent portal account in Infinite Campus.
To view your students grades follow these steps:
Login: Access your Infinite Campus parent portal account.
Select Student: If you have multiple students, choose the correct one from the drop-down list.
Navigate to Grades: Click on the "Grades" option from the left-side menu.
View Grades: Your student's class grades will be displayed, with the option to click on a class for more detailed information on individual assignments.
Some important notes are that, grades highlighted in YELLOW are the current, up-to-date averages. These will change as your child’s average changes. Grades highlighted in GREEN are the grades at the time of progress reports. Averages are cumulative for the full year.
You can also click on the name of a class to see details about the individual assignments and grades that make up the average.
To see report cards and/or progress reports, you can click on the “Reports” link in the left menu. This will give you access to print-friendly grade reports in PDF format.
If you are unable to access this app, please reach out to Mrs. Hawk at rhawk@jcss.us.
Plan ahead and help make a Thanksgiving meal possible for a family within our Jackson County community! The Jackson County School System is once again sponsoring a Thanksgiving Food Drive. We are looking for donations of the following items to help feed a family of four this Thanksgiving. Donations will be accepted on Friday, Nov. 15 from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the Empower College and Career Center Gymnasium!
Information
As a reminder, students should not bring in any outside food from restaurants. This will help with concerns about food safety, potential disruptions in the classroom, managing food allergies among students, and maintaining the cleanliness of the school environment. Thank you for your help!
Families, please remember that 1st period instruction begins promptly at 8:45 AM each day. To ensure students are in class and ready to learn on time, they need to be in the building no later than 8:40 AM. This allows them time to get to their classrooms and prepare for the day ahead.
Thank you for your help in supporting a smooth start to the school day!
The student dress code policy at WJMS is based on the Jackson County School System Code of Conduct document issued to all students. Click here to revisit this document. We strive to make each day successful and encourage our students to be their best.
Students, please remember,
No hats, caps, head coverings (to include hoodies), bandanas, or stocking caps inside the building.
Clothing should not interfere with learning.
Clothing should not contain the following: gang symbols, racial or sexual connotations, drugs, alcohol, tobacco, double meanings, inappropriate slogans, profanity or obscene language.
Any clothing or accessories that have spikes or bullets.
No blankets worn around the body.
Your best school supply is a library card! JCSS has partnered with the Piedmont Regional Library System, and conveniently, your student ID number acts as a library card for your public library! The public library provides free access to books and online resources to help you succeed, as well as fun resources that help develop a lifelong love of reading.
