Happy New Year to our Panther families!
We hope you all had a wonderful and restful break. It's time to jump into the New Year and New Semester.
Upcoming Events
Does your student have a book checked out from the PuRL Bus? Students can return books at the next visit or they can return them to our school library between times that the bus is visiting. We have partnered with the Piedmont Regional Library to have the PuRL Bus come on the first Monday of each month (weather permitting).

What Are Lexiles and How Can They Help Your Child?
Lexile measures are a tool used to determine a student’s reading ability and the complexity of texts they can comprehend. Each student has a Lexile score, which helps us match them with books that are just right—not too easy and not too challenging—so they can grow as readers. Teachers use Lexile levels to guide reading instruction and recommend books that build skills and confidence.
How Can You Help at Home?
You play a big role in helping your child improve their reading! Here are some simple ways to support them:
Read Together: Take turns reading pages aloud or share the experience by reading a favorite book as a family.
Visit the Library: Look for books within your child’s Lexile range. (Ask your teacher or librarian for guidance!)
Talk About Books: Ask questions like, "What was your favorite part?" or "Why do you think the character made that choice?"
Encourage Variety: Explore nonfiction, graphic novels, and even magazines to keep reading fun and engaging.
Celebrate Progress: Notice their effort and improvements—it builds confidence!
With regular practice and support, your child will continue to grow as a reader and develop a lifelong love of learning
