Book Talk - Using Flipgrid, tell us about the book you read. What was it about? Did you like the book? Why or why not? (Kindergarten feature project)
3D Model - Make a 3-dimensional model of an object that represents a key element, theme, or idea in the book. (Kindergarten feature project)
Compare and Contrast Art - Compare and contrast two characters in two different books or two characters within the same story. Draw a picture of each character doing something from the book. Write three ways in which the characters are the same and three ways in which the characters are different. (1st Grade feature project)
Wordless Book Narrative - Choose a wordless picture book. We have a whole section of wordless books in the media center! Use your imagination and write the story to go along with the pictures. You can also tell the story using Flipgrid. (1st Grade feature project)
Novel Engineering - Identify 3 different problems and come up with your own solutions. You will design one of the solutions. You can make/build something and incorporate technology and/or robotics. Visit the Novel Engineering website for more information and examples. (2nd Grade feature project)
Character Project - Create an interview with a character using Scratch or Scratch Jr. Be sure your character answers the following questions: How would you describe yourself as a character? What was a problem you faced in the book? How did you feel about the problem? How did you deal with that problem? How did you feel after you fixed your problem? (2nd Grade feature project)
Book Bentos - Collect and/or make 5-7 objects that represent something in your book. Take a picture of your book with these objects. Consider spacing, background, and placement of objects. (3rd Grade feature project)
Expressive Oral Reading - Choose a passage of text to read aloud. Use vivid expression, characterizations, and sound effects to bring the scene to life. (3rd Grade feature project)
Research Project - Choose a topic from your reading to research. Use two additional, reliable resources and create a research project on your findings. This can be a physical or digital poster, a book, Google Slides presentation, etc. (4th Grade feature project)
Author Study - Create a biography on the author of your book. You can make a digital or physical poster, digital or physical book, or a Google Slides presentation to share your information. (4th Grade feature project)
Movie Trailer - Use Adobe Spark to create a movie trailer about the book. Give a summary of the book and be sure to include a text to self, text to text, or text to world connection. (5th Grade feature project)
Illustrated Dictionary - Choose 10 important or interesting vocabulary words from the book to define and illustrate. Be sure to also use each word in your own sentence. You may create a paper or digital dictionary. (5th Grade feature project)
COMING SOON -- BOOK CHATS - Meet with an adult of your choosing in the school to tell them all about the book you just finished as well as your future plans as a reader. (K-5 feature project).
