Dear Students and Parents,
Welcome to 4th Grade! My name is Michelle Boykin, and I am so excited to be your homeroom teacher this year! We have a great class, and I look forward to spending the year with you.
We will be team teaching again this year, so you will have two teachers. The list above is our homeroom, and we will have Bible class together each day. Mrs. Groves will teach Language Arts and Social Studies, and I will teach Math and Science. We are already making plans and look forward to the opportunity to teach and get to know all the students in 4th grade.
Individual supplies for each student will be purchased with the class supply fee. You will receive an invoice on your Parent’s Web for this fee. The only additional things that the students will need to supply are a water bottle and a pair of headphones. Water bottles should have a screw-on lid and no bottles with a spray mist feature will be allowed. Headphones need to have a jack and not be bluetooth.
You are all invited to a 4th Grade Meet & Greet on Tuesday, August 5th, from 5:30 to 6:30 PM. We'll be gathering at the outdoor classroom on the lower playground for a fun and relaxed evening. This is a great opportunity for students, families, and teachers to connect and start putting names to faces before the school year officially begins. We hope you will join us for light refreshments as we get to know one another.
Parent orientation will be on Wednesday, August 6th. We will meet in Mrs. Groves’ classroom for 4th-grade orientation. We have a lot of information to share with you, so this meeting will be very beneficial in helping us get the year off to a great start! You may schedule an orientation time here. We look forward to getting to know you and answering any questions you may have.
Before the meeting, please go online to jcseagles.org and complete the following:
1. Read the Jackson Christian Elementary School Student Handbook.
2. Log into your parent Renweb FACTS account to sign that you have read the handbook, update your child's information, and load your child's account with money for lunch. Please do not pay the supply fee until the charge appears on your account.
Summer Reading Reminder: The 4th-grade summer reading requirement is to read a CHAPTER book of your choice this summer! The book should be at least 125 pages long and be 4th-grade appropriate. The only book you should NOT choose is The Wild Robot. That will be our first class novel. You must have your book in class the first week of school. (If you are using a library book, be sure you can check it out for that week!) Use this list if you need some help finding a book. (Disclaimer - I have read many of the books on this list, but not all of them, so parents, please help your student choose wisely.)
The first day of school for students is August 7th, and it will be a full day. We will begin dismissing at 3:05. I look forward to meeting you all soon!
Enjoy your last days of summer!
Mrs. Michelle Boykin
