Director Biography

 Allie Mitchell, B.M., M.M.Ed

Mrs. Allie Mitchell is a graduate of Science Hill High School and East Tennessee State University where she studied clarinet with Mr. Tom Crawford. Prior to attending ETSU, she studied Instrumental Music Education and Clarinet performance at Middle Tennessee State University with Dr. Tonya Lawson and Dr. Todd Waldecker.  Her summers during college (2010, 2011, 2012) were spent marching Mellophone in Drum Corps International--the organization who supports event's for the world's most elite and exclusive marching ensembles. She received her Bachelor of Music degree in 2014 and began her teaching career in the fall of 2015 teaching K-8 general music in Greene County Schools.  In 2017, she began her first band director position in Hawkins County Schools at Surgoinsville Middle School, Church Hill Middle School, and Assistant Director at Volunteer High School. She attended Kent State University (2016-2018) to obtain her Master's degree in Music Education. 

This is Mrs. Mitchell's first year at LBMS and she couldn't be more excited about teaching in the school system from which she graduated!  In Mrs. Mitchell's teaching career, her students have consistently qualified for regional and statewide honor band clinics and earned superior ratings in Solo & Ensemble competitions. Her concert bands have also been awarded Superior and Excellence ratings in the Trills & Thrills Music Festival-Dollywood, Pigeon Forge, TN (2018, 2021, 2022, and 2023).  Mrs. Mitchell was awarded tenure with Hawkins County Schools in 2023 before transferring into the LBMS Band position with Johnson City Schools. 

Mrs. Mitchell is a member of the American School Band Directors Association, the National Band Association, National Association for Music Educators, the East Tennessee School Band and Orchestra Association, Delta Omicron, and was the secretary for the Lambda Mu chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi during its development at ETSU. Mrs. Mitchell can usually be found spending time with her husband of 10 years (Sam), their 4-year-old daughter (Nora Kate), their 10-month-old son (Silas), their dog (Cooper), and cat (Peach). She enjoys freelancing on her primary instrument (Clarinet), helping to direct the music at her church, traveling, being outside, gardening, crafting, and playing games.
