Each day as students enter the class in the first semester, they will write down a musical term or symbol and its definition. Each Friday, students will take a quiz over those words. There will be a cumulative midterm and final exam each nine weeks, and then we start again. Words of the Day is a great way to be able to learn quickly the vocabulary needed to fully grasp what's happening in the classroom on a daily basis. Daily words and definitions will also be available on the class Canvas site, in case your student is absent.

When the school year starts, the sequence of quizzes and tests will be as follows:

• Week 1 - no quiz, but words begin

• Week 2 - Friday quiz

• Week 3 - Friday quiz

• Week 4 - Friday quiz

• Week 5 - Review day and Midterm (including new words from the week)

• Week 6 - Friday quiz

• Week 7 - Friday quiz

• Week 8 - Friday quiz

• Week 9 - Review day, Jeoparfeud day (game review), Final Exam
