Culinary Arts

The Culinary Arts Graduation Pathway is made of three courses where students learn culinary arts skills for the kitchen at home and workplace: Principles of Hospitality and Culinary Arts, Nutrition, and Culinary Arts. All students are encouraged to take these courses. Students participate in numerous project-based learning activities such as food lab experiences covering different food topics such as kitchen math and measuring, safety and sanitation, knife skills labs, and much more! Each year, students collaborate to develop a business plan, menu, budget, and design for a food truck. Students also have the opportunity to earn a Serve Safe-Food Handlers certification that Purdue Extension provides. Most recently, students in the Culinary Arts pathway participate in catering various events throughout JCSC showcasing the culinary skills they have learned throughout their time in each class.
