Objective : Advanced English I is a survey course of world literature that includes the study of multiple genres including fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and drama. Additionally, the course offers extensive opportunities for research and written composition. The course will follow the standards and objectives outlined by the state of Texas in the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills or TEKS.
Expectations: Advanced English I is a higher-level course that helps prepare students for advanced writing and reading classes such as On-Ramps and AP English. Advanced English requires students to complete multiple projects, individual reading and writing assignments, weekly Greek Roots and vocabulary words, and weekly homework assignments. The workload will require individual study and intrinsic motivation on the student’s part.
DUE DATES: Due dates for most assignments are predetermined. Late work is NOT accepted.
