Session Title: Adverse Childhood Experiences

Session Description: This extensive training explains the role that adverse childhood experiences (ACE) have on childhood development. Various topics are discussed including, brain development during childhood and adolescence, the impact of childhood adversity, protective factors, and building resiliency. The purpose of training is to increase the community’s collective ability to support individuals who have experienced traumatic events through the provision of supportive trauma-informed strategies and services.

Session Title: Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder: Identification and Interventions
Presenter: Rachael Snyder
Session Description: Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASDs) are a group of conditions that can occur in a person who was exposed to alcohol before birth. These effects can include physical, behavior and learning difficulties. FASD can often go undetected as these individuals look like their peers but have unseen damage. In this training, participants will learn about the varying impacts of FASD, how to identify someone who may be living with FASD and specific strategies to help intervene and support these individuals.

Session Description: In this session participants will learn what google drawing is and how it can be used in their classes. This is great for all grade levels and content areas.
Session Title: Hybrid project based/traditional social studies classroom.

Session Description: Participants will learn how I used the skill based Michigan social studies standards to create skill based learning targets. Participants will learn how I used the skills based learning targets to design a class structure that works for most social studies classes. There will also be information on how to create an environment in which students can choose to participate in a project based format or a more traditional instructional approach.
Session Title: Interactive Read Alouds For Preschool and Early Elementary

Session Description: Following Prek Literacy Essentials 2 and 3. We will be focusing on engaging in higher order discussion before during and after the reading. As well as how to engage students with using vocabulary within the read aloud a different parts of the day.
Session Title: Introducing Inquiry Through Mathematical Modeling

Session Description: This session will invite the participant to begin or enhance their journey of becoming a teacher of mathematical modeling. Session participants will learn of a framework for mathematical modeling that can be used to launch a series of inquiry-based lessons, contextualize and enrich the topics they cover, and assess students' abilities to apply their mathematical understandings. Participants will preview several middle/high school level content examples.
Session Title: Introduction to the Essential School-Wide and Center-Wide Practices in Literacy

Session Description: This session will introduce participants to Michigan's Essential School-Wide and Center-Wide Practices in Literacy. These Essential Practices are integral as part of an overall plan in supporting students' literacy development. Join this session to discover how the practices support literacy development in ways that systematically impact learning in elementary schools, early childhood learning centers.
Session Title: Learning Letters Through Systematic Instruction
Presenter: Amy Reynolds
Session Description: Cultivate systematic instruction that will help your students increase letter identification and sounds. This session will provide models, and show how to assist children in learning letters and sounds in the first few weeks of school with intentionality. We will link activities, explicit instruction, and the Literacy Essentials to provide a foundation for letter learning at the beginning of the school year.

Session Description: You’ve read the book aloud, now what? In this session, participants will discover ways in which picture books can support their community of students following the read aloud. Teachers will learn ways in which picture books can serve as mentors for both readers, writers, and how they can help build a supportive, understanding environment.
Session Title: Preventing & De-Escalating High-Intensity Behaviors

Session Description: In this training, participants will learn about the stages of escalation and de-escalation and practical strategies to implement at each stage to help individuals be successful in regaining control. This interactive training also discusses prevention strategies, as well as how to conduct a successful debriefing session after an incident occurs.

Session Title: Tools from MTSS

Session Description: This session will provide participants with an intervention log to house and track T1-T3 strategies. We have found this tool to be an essential component of MTSS to support students and track fidelity of implementation.
Session Title: Using Sims and Contests to Increase Student Engagement in Social Studies/History

Session Description: Simulations, contests, and projects are engaging but time-consuming for teachers to prepare. I'll be sharing many tips and tricks I use, along with some I've created that are free for the stealing & making your own! I'll let you know what has worked well in my 6th-8th grade history & social studies classes, along with discussing how teachers can make sure we're asking students to really think and learn along with having fun in social studies class.
