To access our google classrooms, you or your child must have a gmail address not already associated with a company or school. Emails ending in "@gmail.com" will work perfectly.
You can access Google Classroom by following these steps:
Visit classroom.google.com
Please be sure you choose the correct email address to associate with your JCDA Classroom account in the Upper Right Corner.
Then, enter your child's google classroom code (these codes can be found in their class box on the class schedule! Each class they take has a different classroom, so be sure to join all of your child’s classes.) Once you are in, you are all set!
Check back in to see updates throughout the year!
CANCELLATIONS OR EMERGENCY CLOSINGS
For cancellations due to weather emergencies, please follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. We post there first! We will also send out emails through our online registration system. If you do not have access to social media, we use the Emergency Closing system on channels 2, 4 & 7. Please be sure you have joined your child's dance class on Google Classroom! We will post any class updates here as well.
If your student needs to miss class for any reason, notice to the studio and instructor is preferred via phone or e-mail.
WE WILL NOT TYPICALLY MAKE PHONE CALLS IF THERE IS A CLASS CANCELLATION.
Please keep in the loop with these forums. Thank you!
SNOW DAY POLICY: We typically follow NCSD regarding weather related cancellations. This may include Full Day or After School Activities.
MAKE-UP POLICY/ PROCEDURE: If a student is absent from class for any reason, or a class cancellation is issued from the studio, students may make-up the class by trying a new class in the same or similar style. (i.e. A Jazz I student could take a Jazz II class for the day, A Combo I student could come to another Combo I class, or a Musical Theatre student could take a Jazz class, etc.) You may submit a class make-up request with the front desk for the class and the date you’d like to make-up and Instructor Approval will be sought. If student is approved to take class on that date, they can come in and make-up! Occasionally, instructors add their own “make-up classes" to cater directly to their classes. They will notify via email or google classroom.
ATTENDANCE POLICY
Unlimited Unexcused and Excused absences. However, due to split payment, any classes missed will not be refunded. A make-up class may be attended by the dancer; see our make-up policy listed above. Excessive absences may also affect how much responsibility the child will have in the class's recital dance at the end of the year, and we ask that children miss no more than 4 classes after January 1. It is up to the dance teacher if the child has missed too much dance to perform in recital. If a child misses two weeks in a row without notification, often our office will call home to check in.
