April...  just as it's a sure thing the flower will blossom so will you!

CFB, Bradford Bears' participate in their first ever

BOOK March Madness

During the NCAA men's basketball tournament, while the world was engrossed in supporting their favorite teams, the Bradford Bears were engrossed in reading picture books and voting on their preferences between classic and new titles. After weeks of reading and voting, two books emerged as finalists: the timeless story of "The Day the Crayons Quit" and the newly released "Once Upon A Book". While Jersey City's Danny Hurley celebrated UConn's victory, our Bears enthusiastically supported "The Day the Crayons Quit" as their favorite.

National Arab American Heritage Month

In April, we commemorated National Arab American Heritage Month, honoring the rich heritage and culture of Arab Americans while recognizing their significant contributions to society.

Eid

Eshal and Fa'Jai, two bright and enthusiastic third-graders, shared the significance of the holiday, explaining its cultural and spiritual importance to their families and community. Their passion and knowledge shone through as they described the traditions, celebrations, and values associated with Eid, leaving her peers with a deeper understanding and appreciation for their heritage. The presentation not only educated their classmates but also fostered a sense of unity and respect for diversity within the classroom.

CFB, PS #16 celebrated the Week of the Young Child with a blast of exciting activities for our Kindergarten through 2nd graders. Students were mesmerized by a magic show, delighted by puppet performances, and grooved to the tunes of a live music concert. Their inner artists flourished with creative painting sessions, and they explored the wonders of the animal kingdom at the zoo. Big thanks to the staff for organizing such a memorable week! And a shoutout to the CPA for providing brand new books for our students through their fundraising efforts.

CFB, PS 16 celebrates Autism Awareness Week

Autism affects 1 in 36 children nationwide and 1 in 35 children in New Jersey, including over 700 students in Jersey City Public Schools. Autism knows no racial, ethnic, or social boundaries, and affects all individuals very differently.  Typically, students with Autism have difficulties with communication, social skills and repetitive and restrictive behaviors. The most important thing to remember about children with Autism, is that they are children first, and they deserve to be loved, accepted, and respected just like everyone else!!!
