Jarrell ISD is excited to begin offering a temporary remote option for students who are COVID-positive (and other medical conditions) and mandated to stay home for ten days in accordance with policy. This includes students who are unable to attend school because of a temporary medical condition (reference TEA Remote Conferencing information) and meet eligibility. The district understands the burden of students missing instructional time at school and wants to provide as much support as possible.
NOTE: This option is limited to 20 total days for each student per school year according to TEA guidance.
Remote conferencing IS an opportunity for Kindergarten through 12th grade students who are in mandatory isolation due to a test-confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19, or in quarantine due to being a close contact, to maintain attendance and stay up-to-date on assignments for the duration of time in isolation. The days in remote conferencing may not exceed more than 20 instructional days over the entirety of the school year.
Remote conferencing IS NOT remote/virtual learning. Lessons will not be taught synchronously (or live) by classroom teachers or Remote Conferencing online facilitators. Assignments may be available through Google Classroom or for in-person pick up for students to complete, and a Remote Conferencing online facilitator will be available to assist students on assignments and to hold mandatory daily attendance meetings.
If you are interested in your student participating because they meet the Remote Conferencing eligibility, please complete the registration link below.
Check Google Classroom each day for assignments pushed out by teacher(s) and complete as able.
Use the Google Meet link provided in the JISD Remote Conference Guidelines to meet with the Remote Conferencing online facilitator as needed for assistance on assignments. Remote Conferencing online facilitators will be available from 8:00am - 12:00pm each day to assist students with assignments.
Email classroom teachers with questions regarding assignments if Remote Conferencing teacher is unable to answer questions.
Join mandatory daily attendance meetings with Remote Conferencing online facilitator at the following times.
Joining the mandatory daily attendance meeting, and remaining in the meeting for the entire meeting, is the only way your child will be counted present for the day.
Students are expected to participate and engage in learning daily. The following links will provide students with activities and ideas to use to engage in learning for their daily synchronous time.
TEA guidelines for remote conferencing state a student can maintain attendance by joining a mandatory daily attendance meeting each day he/she is in remote conferencing. The Remote Conferencing online facilitator must see your child on video during the attendance meeting to verify attendance.
Your child will be marked absent each day by the classroom teacher, but the Remote Conferencing online facilitator will take attendance during the daily attendance meeting and submit to the campuses each afternoon. An attendance correction will be submitted for students who attended the daily attendance meeting requirements.
Submitting assignments through the Google Classroom but not joining the daily attendance meeting will not result in your child being counted present for the day.
If your student would like to be added to Remote Conferencing because of COVID-positive mandatory stay at home orders or other illnesses and concerns, please complete the registration link.
You will be notified of approval and admittance into Remote Conferencing. Please allow one to two school days to be notified with information.
