Entrance to Rowayton Community Center
The annual meeting and culture program of the Japan Society of Fairfield County (JSFC) was held at the Rowayton Community Center on Saturday, November 9, 2024.
We had a toast of sparkling wine or juice, followed by a delicious luncheon of Japanese boxed lunches (bentos) from Maruichi-Stamford . During a brief business meeting President Jackie Alexander described the past year’s events. The officers and board of directors for 2025 were elected.
Bob Florence, the founder and owner of Moromi brand soy sauce brewery in North Stonington, Connecticut, spoke about his journey from chemist and international business and start-up executive, to developing and building his successful artisanal soy sauce business. Bob discussed the roots of soy sauce production and his personal journey to capture the savory umami flavors he grew to love during his experience living and working in Asia.
Attendees were able to sample and purchase some of Moromi's products.
A holiday market by the Japanese craft group “ObiObi” continued through the event.
