After a toast of sparkling wine, we enjoyed a luncheon of Japanese boxed lunches (bentos) from Hachiroku Shokudo & Sake bar.
During the business meeting JSFC president Jackie Alexander gave a presentation summarizing the past year’s events. An election was held for JSFC officers and directors for 2023. Ruri Kippenbrock, owner of wuhao newyork Tenugui Art, gave a presentation/workshop on tenugui, a Japanese traditional rectangular towel made of 100% cotton. Ruri showed contemporary uses in decorating, eco-friendly gift wrapping, and fashion styling ideas with tenugui. Attendees were able to borrow tenugui to try out gift wrapping themselves.
