The Annual Meeting of the Society took place at the Jay Heritage Center, Rye, NY on November 6, 2021. This was the first in-person annual meeting since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic . Reservations for the event were at capacity. The event began with a tour of the restored gardens.
Future location of allée of Japanese cherry blossom trees
As part of this tour attendees were shown where the cherry trees which JSFC is donating will be planted. This was followed by a champagne toast and luncheon.
Dedication of cherry tree in Mead Memorial Park
During the business meeting JSFC president Jackie Alexander presented her annual report, which included descriptions of the programs conducted by the Society since the last annual meeting. This year, the Society began a new project building connections and community between the US and Japan - Sakura Manbon. The first part of this project was to replace a tree in the Gold Star Walk in Mead Memorial Park, New Canaan.
The current part of this project is to raise funds for an allée of 22 Japanese Higan Cherry Blossom trees at the Jay Heritage Center.

JSFC member Takaya Kurimoto, ASLA, a registered landscape architect and a Japanese garden designer, delivered an interesting and informative talk on “Water in Japanese Gardens”.
