Some of our learning activities involve food. Please let Mrs. Sandlin know about any food allergies or intolerances! Students are never forced to eat anything, but everyone deserves an equal opportunity to taste an edible portion of a math assignment. Activities can be adapted or substituted so that no one has to be left out.
Don't worry if your student gets a low grade the first time they take an assessment! A low score means they haven't met the standards yet. Encourage your student to review and reassess to earn the grade he or she wants. The new score will replace the earlier score. Students who study their errors and prepare for reassessment usually achieve improved scores.
If your child is struggling with a math assignment or concept, encourage them to review the learning resources linked on this site! On DeltaMath assignments, there is a help video linked from every single problem along with example problems. They are also able to access previously completed DeltaMath assignments to access the videos and examples, as well as practicing more. Additionally, the student section of the Illustrative Math web site provides a summary at the end of each lesson page that goes over the concepts covered in that lesson.
