Student Wellness and Success Disadvantaged Pupil Impact Aid Plan
Jefferson Area Local Schools FY25/FY26
Plan and Agreement Revised and Approved bt the JALSD Board of Education October 14, 2025
The JALSD receives Disadvantaged Pupil Impact Aid and Student Wellness and Success Funds to fund initiatives to support wraparound services for our students. As required by law, the Board of Education has established Student Wellness Policy 8501 for the Jefferson Area Local School District as a part of a comprehensive wellness initiative. "The Board recognizes that good nutrition and regular physical activity affect the health and well-being of the District's students. Furthermore, research suggests that there is a positive correlation between a student's health and well-being and his/her ability to learn. Moreover, schools can play an important role in the developmental process by which students establish their health and nutrition habits by providing nutritious meals and snacks through the schools' meal programs, by supporting the development of good eating habits, and by promoting increased physical activity both in and out of school".
After reviewing our Student Wellness / DPIA plan, Student Wellness Policy, wellness related programs including Food Service, you are invited to provide your feedback, suggestions for improvement, or ask questions either in person at a school Board Meeting or by participating in our survey: Click Here
The JALSD Plan
The Jefferson Area Local Schools (JALSD) works in partnership with The Ashtabula County Educational Service Center (ACESC) and our Mental Health / Social Worker Provider, Cadence Care to develop a plan to help the JALSD and their schools support their students’ academic achievement through mental health counseling, school security, school resources officers, school psychologist services, nursing services, and the service of our Community Liaison Administrator. Additionally the plan is the result of our District's One Needs Assessment and is aligned to our ONE Plan (District Improvement / Strategic Plan). The Building Leadership Teams in each of our buildings utilize the resources provided by the SWSF and DPIA funding to support their implementation of PBIS throughout the district.
