I am a psychotherapist who works with adults 18 and older. I have worked in many settings, including schools and community-based wraparound programs. Trained as a social worker, I strive to meet clients/patients where they're at in a compassionate and attuned way. I want to help people reduce their suffering and increase meaning in their lives.
My approach is collaborative and grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), an evidence-based therapy incorporating mindfulness and perspective-taking. As the name suggests, ACT is about accepting what is outside of personal control and committing to valued action that improves your life. Through exploration and collaboration I help people become aware of patterns and habits that may no longer be serving them well, and which get in the way of realizing their goals. Together, we can help you develop new, more effective strategies and practices that can move you towards meaningful living.
In my work with clients/patients, I value kindness, curiosity, self-development, humility, creativity and humor. I am a member of multiple peer supervision groups and attend frequent trainings to deepen my knowledge and widen my perspective. I aim to practice anti-racism and to be an ally of the LGBTQIA community. I am a graduate of Earlham College (B.A. 1997) and Simmons University School of Social Work (M.S.W. 2007).
I am a spouse, father, brother, son, uncle, and neighbor who loves music, movies, hiking and bicycling. I also have two cats: Boots and Oliver. I use he/him/his pronouns.
